How to Host A Minecraft Server on Your Own Computer Without Exposing Your IP
Invite friends with a link instead of sharing your address in chat.
Want friends to join your home-hosted server without sharing your address in chat? In this article you will learn a simple path to create a server and invite people using a link.
Quick setup with SquidServers
Install SquidServers. Open it and let it detect Java. Choose Vanilla, Paper, or Modpack. Create or import a world, choose a save folder, and set RAM with the slider.
Invite with a link
Launch the server. Copy the join link shown in the dashboard and share it privately with your friends. You do not need to post your home address anywhere. Keep the server window open while people play.
Tips for a smooth session
Close other heavy apps while hosting. Pick the correct Java version for your mods. If performance dips even with enough RAM, reduce simulation distance to lower CPU load.
