How to Host a Local Minecraft Server (Mac)
A macOS guide from download to invite, with tips to keep play smooth.
Want to host a server on your Mac without fuss? In this article you will learn a short, reliable setup and a few tips for smooth sessions.
Install SquidServers and prepare Java
Download SquidServers for macOS and open it. If macOS prompts you, allow the app to run. Install Java if you do not have it yet. Java 21 is a good default unless your mods say otherwise.
Create and configure
Choose Vanilla, Paper, or Modpack. Create or import a world. Set memory with the slider and choose a save folder. Start with the basic RAM table and adjust after a quick test.
Launch and invite your friends
Launch the server and share the join link in your group chat. You can host and play on the same Mac. Close heavy apps and reduce simulation distance during busy events to keep ticks smooth.
